The Project:
The Client:
-
A university team, comprising bilingual literacy professors and Spanish-language SMEs, developed a bilingual teacher education initiative.
-
The first phase of deliverables included two Rise360 modules created from the SME's provided language and desired activities. In phase two of the project, eight edited videos featuring bilingual professors across the country were produced, with my primary task being to edit them toward SME standards and learner accessibility. These deliverables were to accompany culturally and linguistically diverse education (CLDE) courses in which students in the Bilingual endorsement sequence would complete, in addition to their CLDE coursework. Both the modules and videos needed consistent branding and accurate Spanish transcripts.
The Problem:
-
The scope of both phases needed to be shifted frequently to accommodate the SME schedule. However, the second phase of editing the videos presented a significant challenge of readjusting the workflow midway through the project. The three primary factors that led to the workflow overhaul were being brought on late by the Agency faculty, a lack of appropriate access to software to capture Spanish-language audio for transcription, and a lack of timely materials from SMEs.
-
Throughout the second phase of editing videos, SMEs made late-stage branding decisions and shifted aesthetic preferences midway through video review cycles.
-
The AI software used to create the videos, Descript, produced highly inaccurate Spanish transcripts that required overhaul by the SMEs and manual correction by me.
-
Lack of finalized assets from SMEs delayed the production timeline.
The Solution:
-
Established structured communication with assistance from faculty leads to align stakeholders on expectations and feasible outcomes.
-
Shifted the workflow from Camtasia to Descript for more efficient editing and transcript integration.
-
Created a consistent aesthetic framework for banners, captions, slides, and music that balanced client preferences and instructional clarity.
-
Coordinated multi-round transcript reviews and integrated client feedback into final drafts.
-
Redesigned the production process to reduce bottlenecks and ensure videos moved smoothly from editing to review to finalization.
My Role:
I led the instructional design and project management. My nain tasks included:
-
Managed timelines, clarified scope changes, and aligned stakeholders through structured communication.
-
Ensured all aesthetic and structural decisions supported learner comprehension rather than preference-driven revisions.
-
Developed a sustainable editing-review pipeline with sequencing edits, manual transcript correction, and branding updates.
-
Transitioned from Camtasia to Decsript and guided stakeholders through a new workflow.
-
Edited videos, revised transcript accuracy, added graphics, and integrated final branding elements to produce publishable assets.
